The House-craft spending bill fell apart today; Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid rejected a GOP backed bill, calling it “cherry-picking funding”. This was before the House bill even got into the senate. You might remember this move from the playground in the first grade. Even if the House has “cherry picking funding”, it’s better than the Senate’s funding plan, which is currently nonexistent.
Budget Deal Falls Apart
President Obama has threatened to veto the GOP backed budget bill. The constitution has added provisions about how a presidential veto might be overthrown, but that requires a two-thirds majority, which the president knows full well that neither house of congress will be able to reach.
I don’t know about you, but it certainly seems to me like the President and Harry Reid are trying to keep the government shut down, blame it on the Republicans, and build themselves a legacy.
